Make Something Craftsy for the House

1/31/17 I finally found something on Facebook that I would want to make for the house. I'm not sure I should make it yet though because they might not make it to the next house. Might get damaged in the move. I think the light balls garland would be a cute addition to a space.

11/18/17 I had an idea for this one but it was something for Abby's room which doesn't have anybody in it ever so it would make more sense to do something others would see. I need to look through facebook at all the things I save that I have no intention of doing but I think look cute. I'm going to do that now. I'm laughing because every project I see I think to myself, I think I could just buy that. Why waste the time? See, this craftsy thing is a challenge for me. Maybe I could just resurrect  my lighted wreath thing again. I could try it without the moss this time. I think that is cheating.

11/3/18 Started looking through my list and decided I could definitely do this one or at least get a start. So to Facebook I went to find some inspiration. Combine my cheapness with art and you have toilet paper roll designs. The first one I made looks like a snowflake and I can glue it and then cover it with glitter. I’m thinking I could do silver, white, dark red and a light red and put many of them together to create something pretty for the door or the wall. I’m wondering if I could somehow use the mirror behind me in my office to showcase some holiday creations. I also started on a geometric flower pattern that I hope to paint in autumn color. I think I want to do one big piece this time and maybe for the spring come up with several smaller flowers and makes stems. I could even do some kind of grass at the bottom. I will have to get creative with how I get things to stay put. Maybe I could just use the hot glue. The pieces aren’t very heavy and I bet the hot glue would clean right off of the glass. I will have to experiment with that. But I like having a fun idea and it is something I can do while I listen to a book and I can continue to impress people whom I work with. Maybe have some conversation starters. One of the things about this job is that it keeps me alone quite a bit. Anything to build some connections with people would be good. I could also make some of these and give them to neighbors as gifts at Christmas along with some cookies or a pie. Maybe I could use them to decorate the top of the pie after it has been wrapped. I have all kinds of ideas. Now I just need more toilet paper rolls.

11/16/18 I finished my little toilet paper roll project and hung it on the wall behind my desk in my office. I painted the edges with glue and dipped it in glitter. It is not the most impressive thing, but I like it. I still have a little ornament looking thing I think I will dip in glue and then dip in glitter too. I think I can call this one finished. Seems a bit anticlimactic, but I had fun creating my decoration and I think I will do it again. That is a win. I experienced something new and I liked it.

And now that I’ve uploaded the picture, it does look a wee bit pitiful. Well, the adventure wasn’t to make something beautiful for the house, it was just to make something craftsy and that is exactly what I did. So go me!!
