Visit Mt. Saint Helens

finished 9/25/18

I have been trying to think of what we could do for a quick vacation since we have time that needs to be spent and a trip to the volcano is only a 3 hour drive and we have a camper. Now I just need to find someone with a truck we could borrow so Jeremy doesn't think he needs to buy a truck.

11/11/17 Brian was in town and even though the weather was looking not so good, he wanted to give the drive a try. Alas, when we got to Mt. St. Helens it could not be seen and there was snow on the road blocking the way to get close enough to see it. So we went through the visitor's center and basically saw a video that we probably could have pulled up on the internet and went through a small museum. Great thing is now I know MSH is a fair weather destination.

8/7/18 This one will be in the bag come mid-September. I have a camping spot rented to take the boys on a trip. Hoping that is not too late for a good hike around the mountain. Notice I did not say up the mountain. God knows we are done with that nonsense. 

9/25/18 It took about a year from my first attempt at the Mountain/Volcano, but I finally crossed this one off the list. We took our camper out on its inaugural voyage and used it to it’s fullest potential. We didn’t actually hike on the mountain. That would have taken way more planning than I was willing to put in. We went to not one but two visitor’s centers and watched not one but two videos on the eruption. I think it is fascinating. May have been the only one who felt that way in my family, but they get drug to all kinds of things with me and they are better people for it!!! Of course it rained quite a bit during the weekend and the crater was covered with clouds, but who needs to see the actual thing when you can watch two really great videos? Jeremy did kindly point out that he probably could have googled Mt. St. Helen’s and gotten better youtube videos while we say in our warm, dry living room, but where is the fun in that I ask you?
